Researching is one of the three major functions of universities. Shenyang University of Technology (SUT) has gained substantial achievements after long time accumulation.
During the Eleventh Five-year Plan period, the scientific research income was up to nearly 800 million RMB. We had undertaken more than 2,600 plan projects and projects commissioned by enterprises. Meanwhile, the university applied for 861 patents, with 289 granted, in which invention patents covered two thirds. During this time, the university had been awarded 101 prizes at provincial level or above and one Second Award of the Scientific and Technological Progress of the State. In addition, 8,391 papers were published in this period, including 2,367 published on SCIE, EI and ISTP. And SUT had established different centers and bases as follows: National Engineering and Technology Research Center, Engineering Technology Research Center of Ministry of Education, Key Laboratory co-sponsored by province and ministry, Key Research Center of Humanities and Social Sciences, three Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center, four Provincial Key Laboratories and six Provincial Key Laboratories of Universities.
In 2010, Public R&D Center of Shenyang Tiexi Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Zone settled in our university. Based on the common characters of equipment manufacturing and critical technical research and development, this R&D center stands for a new cooperative mode (combination of government, production, academics and research) and has embodies the school-running characteristics of our university.
