Established in July 2020, the School of Artificial Intelligence at Shenyang University of Technology is focused on revitalizing traditional industries, strengthening emerging sectors, and cultivating future industries. Closely aligned with China’s national “new infrastructure initiatives” strategy, it enhances foundational AI research and technological applications while dedicated to nurturing high-caliber innovative and application-oriented AI professionals and building an integrated "industry-academia-research-application" model.
Our school offers three undergraduate programs — “Intelligent Science and Technology,” “Industrial Intelligence,” and “Robotics Engineering” —along with one academic master’s program under the primary discipline of “Control Science and Engineering” (recognized as a Liaoning Provincial Key Discipline), and two professional master's programs in “Artificial Intelligence" and "Control Engineering.” In 2021, the school established an interdisciplinary PhD program in Artificial Intelligence dedicated to doctoral training at the intersection of AI and multiple disciplines. Currently, it enrolls 636 undergraduate students and 368 postgraduate students (master's and doctoral candidates).
Since its establishment, our school has consistently enhanced talent cultivation through high-quality undergraduate education. By vigorously implementing a faculty enhancement initiative that balances recruitment and development, it has built an outstanding all-PhD faculty team including recipients of the National Teaching Excellence Award and National Ten Thousand Talents Program leading scientific innovators. The School currently employs 40 full-time faculty members, among whom are 8 full professors, 9 associate professors, 10 doctoral supervisors, and 31 master's supervisors.
We have built a suite of teaching and research platforms, including the Liaoning Provincial Key Laboratory of Embedded Technology Applications for Higher Education Institutions, Shenyang Key Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence, Shenyang Key Laboratory of Information Perception and Edge Computing, and Shenyang Key Laboratory of Smart Chip and Network Technology Innovation Applications, alongside multiple provincial model joint industry-academia training bases for graduate students. We also have established deep collaborative partnerships with relevant enterprises and research institutes. Equipped with hardware/software environments supporting curricular and extracurricular practical learning—such as maglev and elevator simulation platforms, robotic intelligent perception and motion control systems, and high-performance computing clusters—we deliver comprehensive practical training and case-based student projects, extensively cultivating students' innovative thinking and engineering practice capabilities.
Driven by technological innovation and guided by intelligent manufacturing, our school prioritizes cultivating students' practical competencies through emerging technologies. Under faculty guidance, students have achieved outstanding results in premier competitions including the Electronic Design Contest, China Collegiate Computing Competition, ACM-ICPC Programming Contest, and Mathematical Modeling Contest, progressively establishing an innovative application-oriented talent development system that integrates competition preparation with capability enhancement.
Our graduates enjoy broad employment prospects across sectors including information technology, IoT, intelligent manufacturing, robotics, and new energy, securing positions at leading enterprises such as State Grid, CRRC Corporation, Xiaomi, Geely Group, and Gree Electric. Meanwhile, a significant cohort pursues advanced studies at prestigious institutions including Tianjin University, Shandong University, Dalian University of Technology, Northeastern University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
