The School of Software is one of the first batch of provincial demonstration software schools in Liaoning Province. The school offers three undergraduate majors: Software Engineering, Data Science and Big Data Technology, and Internet of Things Engineering. It has a professional second-level master's degree program in Software Engineering within the electronic information category, and is authorized to grant bachelor's degrees and professional master's degrees in Software Engineering, as well as the right to recommend master's students for exemption from the entrance examination.
Our school currently has 50 faculty members, including 17 with senior professional titles, 2 recipients of provincial talent titles, and 1 member of the university's degree committee. All faculty members hold doctoral or master's degrees. At the same time, more than 40 part-time professors and senior engineers from enterprises are employed, forming a high-level teaching team composed of IT industry experts, professors, corporate executives, and other high-level talents.
We has established a Liaoning Province Service Outsourcing Talent Training Base recognized by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, a provincial off-campus innovation and practice base for college students, a provincial joint training base for professional degree postgraduates, a provincial in-school experimental teaching center, and the Shenyang Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing of High-end Industrial Equipment. It serves as the chairman unit of the Liaoning Province Software Industry University-Enterprise Alliance, and the vice-chairman unit of the Liaoning Province Big Data Industry University-Enterprise Alliance, Mobile Internet Industry University-Enterprise Alliance, and Shenyang Big Data Industry Alliance.
Guided by engineering education, with the goal of cultivating high-level, practical and compound software engineering talents, our school adheres to the exploration of improving the level and highlighting the development of characteristics, and is committed to building a first-class characteristic demonstration application-oriented college in the province. The school has carried out in-depth professional co-construction cooperation with 4 well-known domestic IT enterprises, implementing a “2.5+0.5+1” form of collaborative engineering talent training both on and off campus. The university and enterprises have jointly invested nearly 20 million yuan to establish a fully enterprise-oriented large-scale innovation and entrepreneurship practice base on campus. The school has a comprehensive experimental center integrating Huawei's high-performance hardware platform, big data and artificial intelligence, and software engineering teaching experiment platforms, as well as experimental environments such as embedded laboratories and network laboratories. It also has engineering practice venues such as student training platforms and a college students' innovation and entrepreneurship center.
We focus on the cutting-edge fields of software engineering, continuously deepening its research in directions such as computer vision, information security, medical image analysis, and multimodal intelligent integration, and has formed a number of original achievements with international influence. Five teachers from the school have successively presided over National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, and many teachers have jointly obtained more than 10 provincial and ministerial projects such as the Liaoning Province Major Science and Technology Innovation Project. Relevant achievements have been published in CCF-A class academic platforms such as AAAI and TPAMI, as well as top journals in the first district of the Chinese Academy of Sciences such as EAAI, strongly supporting the deep integration of industry, university, and research in fields such as industrial software and smart healthcare.
To improve the internationalization capability of talent training, we have established extensive cooperative relations with multiple foreign universities, and has carried out “3+1” and “3+2” bachelor-master continuous study programs in cooperation with Cardiff Metropolitan University in the UK and University Putra Malaysia. Students can obtain a bachelor’s degree from our university and a master's degree from the foreign university within 4-5 years of study.
Our deep university-enterprise integration school-running model has formed its own characteristics in cultivating applied talents. The Software Engineering major has been rated as a first-class undergraduate education demonstration major in Liaoning Province and a demonstration major for application-oriented transformation among the top 100. All majors are taught jointly by school experts and corporate executives and technical experts, forming an education and teaching system and training model that achieves “seamless connection” among theoretical teaching, in-school innovation and entrepreneurship education, enterprise application practice, and professional ability improvement, cultivating a large number of outstanding IT talents with solid theoretical foundations and strong engineering practice capabilities.
