Ⅰ. Mathematics
The major for undergraduates in Department of Mathematics is Mathematics and Applied Mathematics , Information and Computing Science owing to its advantageous vocational development and adaptability. This major not only pays attention to the training of mathematical quality, but also emphasizes the education and practice in Mathematical Calculation and Application, Mathematical Modeling and Optimization, Applied Statistics and Financial Mathematics etc. Department of Mathematics has developed a complete set of education system including undergraduate education, graduate education. The education directions include Fundamental Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Probability Theory, Mathematical Statistics and Applied Mathematics. In particular, Department of Mathematics has abundant qualified teachers and rich teaching experience in functional analysis, Probability Theory, Algebraic Geometry and Partial Differential Equations.
Ⅱ. Applied Physics
Applied Physics, as the name implies, is to apply for the purpose of physics. With the basic laws of physics, experiments as the foundation, to study the application of physics. The main professional training to master the basic theory and methods of physics, and has a good foundation and basic experimental skills. The specialty has two training orientations: magnetic meterial and photoelectric technology. The main courses include mechanical, thermal, electromagnetic, optical, atomic physics; quantum mechanics, statistical physics, electrodynamics; analog electronics, digital electronics; phorovoltaic technology, meterial physics.
Ⅲ. Applied Chemistry
At undergraduate student level, the department opens a major in Applied Chemistry. Chemistry is the science of matter, which mainly studies the structure, composition, performance, reaction, interaction and change of matter. Applied chemistry is an applied specialty that studies how to rapidly translate chemical research achievements into practical products. Through applying the basic principles and knowledge of chemistry to the various related fields of national economic and social development, it is closely related to human clothing, food, housing, transportation and all high and new technologies. It is a key technology field in twenty-first Century and has broad prospects for development. It provides a good opportunity for students to further develop their jobs and develop themselves in the future. Advanced applied talents of engineering and technology with strong practical skills, comprehensive qualities, innovative spirit and competitive awareness in the fields of Applied Electrochemistry, Fine Chemical Engineering and Applied Polymers were trained. Professional courses including basic courses: Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Principle of Chemical Engineering, Design of Chemical Engineering, etc; electives special courses in different professional directions: Paint and Coatings, Electrochemical Principles, Chemical Power, Polymer Chemistry, Fine Organic Synthesis Chemistry and Technology, Principle and Technology of Polymer Synthesis, etc; as well as following "Emerging Engineering Education" philosophy, the department sets up the multi-level systematic practice sections including Design Type of Experiment, Curriculum Design, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training, Internship and Graduation Thesis etc.
Ⅳ. Environmental Science & Engineering
Environmental science & engineering major will cultivate knowledge on the prevention and control of water, gas, sound, solid waste, pollution control and water supply and drainage projects, pollution control planning and water resources protection in cities and towns. Graduates could start their careers in government departments, planning departments, economic management departments, environmental protection departments, design units, industrial and mining enterprises, scientific research units, universities and so on as advanced engineering and technical personnel in different environmental engineering disciplines involving design, construction, management, education and research and development.
Students mainly study organic chemistry, inorganic and analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical principles, environmental engineering microbiology, environmental monitoring, environmental engineering CAD, environmental instrument analysis, water pollution control engineering, air pollution control project, solid waste disposal engineering, noise pollution control, and basic knowledge, principles and professional experimental skills related to environmental planning and management, clean production and recycling economy. During the period of studying, students learn the theoretical frontiers and the development of the subject, the prospect of application and the updated development; master the basic methods of inquiring Chinese and foreign documents, the retrieval of literature, and the use of modern information technology; receive the professional training related to the environmental engineering, which has certain practical ability, including the design and innovation of the experiment; and acquire the ability to study and analyze the results of the experiment, write papers, and participate in academic communication; and obtain comprehensive ability training, such as curriculum design and graduation design, to be able to accomplish the projects related to pollution control independently and have the ability to solve problems.
After graduation, students are suitable for senior engineering professionals engaged in environmental planning, management, design, engineering, scientific research and teaching in the environmental protection institutions, enterprises, and scientific research units, or carry on postgraduate study.
