It focuses on the research and application development needs of the technology and information industry. It establishes three distinct professional training directions: scientific computing, data analysis, and intelligent software. It cultivates research-oriented and application-focused talents who possess a solid mathematical foundation and mathematical thinking ability, master the fundamental theories, methods, and skills of information and computing science, undergo preliminary scientific research training, and are capable of addressing practical challenges in information technology and scientific and engineering computation.
There are 18 full-time faculty members and 2 laboratory technicians in this program. Among them, there are 4 professors, 6 associate professors, 1 doctoral supervisor, and 13 master's supervisors. Additionally, it includes 2 provincial teaching masters, 1 provincial outstanding teacher, 1 "hundred, thousand, ten thousand" talent, 1 provincial young backbone teacher, 1 outstanding graduate supervisor in Shenyang City, and 3 winners in provincial teaching innovation competitions.
In the past 5 years, this program has undertaken 2 National Natural Science Foundation projects and more than 20 provincial and ministerial level projects, won multiple provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological awards, and received multiple school teaching achievement awards. It has been responsible for 5 provincial first-class courses, has published 4 textbooks (including 1 provincial excellent textbook), and has produced over 100 research papers.
Bachelor’ Degree Program in Applied Physics
The Bachelor’ Degree Program in Applied Physics is a comprehensive and broad-spectrum science discipline rooted in fundamental physics theories and experimental methodologies, serving fundamental sciences, new materials, green energy, and related fields. The program confers a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics and a Master’s degree under the first-level Physics discipline. It was recognized as a Liaoning Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Demonstration Program in 2020. This four-year program offers four specialization tracks within its curriculum: Magnetic Materials and Technology, Information and Optoelectronic Technology, Physical Microelectronics Technology, and Quantum Information.
The program aims to cultivate well-rounded talents with comprehensive development in morality, intellect, physique, aesthetics, and practical skills. Students will master fundamental physics theories, professional knowledge, and technical skills; acquire the ability to analyze and solve physical problems in applied physics, magnetic materials science, optoelectronic technology, microelectronic processing, and quantum information using physics principles and experimental methods; develop innovative and entrepreneurial spirit along with strong comprehensive qualities; and adapt to societal demands. Graduates will become senior research-applied specialists capable of engaging in scientific research, technological development, high-tech commercialization, and related management in fields such as new material design, photoelectric detection, optical information processing, microelectronic processing, and quantum information. Within five years after graduation, they are expected to proficiently utilize professional knowledge and advanced technologies to independently conduct cutting-edge research or tackle key technical challenges in research institutions or corporate R&D roles, driving the transformation of scientific achievements into practical applications.
