(1) Materials Forming and Control Engineering
The Bachelor’s Degree Program in Materials Forming and Control Engineering is mainly oriented to the equipment manufacturing industry. Apart from this, this program is also related industries to cultivate innovative and applied senior specialists with high morals, solid foundation, and excellent technology, who are good at solving complex engineering problems of materials forming in the fields of casting, forging, and welding. It is a National First-class Undergraduate Program Construction Site, a China Engineering Education Certification Program.
This program embodies a multidisciplinary cross-fusion of materials, mechanical, control, artificial intelligence, and other engineering disciplines. The main research areas of this program focus on metal materials forming process related process factors on material forming quality, forming equipment and process development and optimization of the theory and method, forming process automation and intelligent control, forming parts quality testing and reliability evaluation, forming mold design theory and method, and other issues.
This program helps to equip students with knowledge about the key structural components of advanced equipment, liquid, and solid-state forming technology and skills as a feature. It aims to carry out professional certification of engineering education, implement outstanding engineers training program, enhance innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, and to strengthen the training of students' innovation and practical ability.
The employment areas of our graduates mainly encompass design and manufacturing, technology development, operation and management, and sales in the fields of equipment manufacturing and rail transportation. The employers of our graduates include the North Heavy Industry, the New Northeast Electric, Great Wall Motors, Dalian Huarui Heavy Industry, Dalian Machine Tools, and other well-known enterprises. In the last three years, more than 30 excellent students have been recommended to study for the Master’s Degrees in many distinguished universities in China.
(2) Welding Technology and Engineering
The Bachelor’s Degree Program in Welding Technology and Engineering specializes in the high-end manufacturing industry as the background, supported by Materials Science and Engineering and crossed Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Management Science, and other disciplines. It focuses on equipping students with the ability training of design, manufacturing, experimental research, operation and management, management, and sales in the field of material connection. Our graduates can work in such fields as welding of new materials, high-energy beam processing, additive manufacturing technology (3D printing), thermal spray molding, laser welding and cutting, solid connection technology, magnetron welding power control, computer-aided welding design and manufacturing and so on.
This program is currently a National First-class Undergraduate Program Construction Site. It ranked first in the latest professional assessment in Liaoning Province, ranked sixth in the 2022 Softech national professional assessment, and it is a National Advantage Program. The program has established a Provincial-level Key Laboratory of Advanced Welding Technology in Liaoning. It has advantages in traditional characteristics of high-performance arc power design. This program is characteristic of high-energy beam processing and additive manufacturing, computer-aided high-performance welding, intelligent welding inspection and so on.
In this program, there are 14 teaching staff, including 5 professors, 2 associate professors, and 7 lecturers. Among them, there is 1 state council special allowance expert, 6 provincial talents, 8 doctoral supervisors, and 5 people with overseas study experience. More than 90% of our students have participated in science and technology competitions and achieved 6 awards in National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Projects, 12 National Awards, and more than 20 other provincial and ministerial level awards. The program has a joint training base for international welding engineers with Harbin Welding Training Center. Students who passing the training exam of the Center is granted the International Welding Engineer (IWE) qualification certificate authorized by the International Welding Society.
The employment areas of our graduates mainly encompass automobiles, railroads, ships, aerospace, and specialized equipment manufacturing industry. The employment rate of our graduates in the past three years is about 93%, and more than 30% of the students further studied for their Master’s Degree.
(3) Metal Materials Engineering
The Bachelor’s Degree Program in Metal materials Engineering focuses on research on the most important basic materials for industrial production and manufacturing. This program is oriented to serve the needs of key components and materials in the fields of advanced equipment manufacturing, aerospace and transportation. It aims to cultivate specialists for the field relating to metal material engineering.
This program is not only a Provincial First-class Undergraduate Demonstration Program in Liaoning. 63% of the full-time teachers in this program are professors; 69% of them are doctoral supervisors, and all of them are master’s supervisors. Among them, there are also special experts of the State Council, hosts of Provincial Talent Projects, Talents of Revitalization of Liaoning, and members of Provincial Scientific and Technological Innovation Teams.
There are two key laboratories in this program. They are the Liaoning Province Key Laboratory of Magnesium Alloy and Its Forming Technology and the Liaoning Province Key laboratory of Light Metal Materials and Engineering. These two laboratories help the program to form a talent training model that combines engineering education and engineering training. Our graduates can work in such areas as scientific research institutions, corporate scientific research, technology development, production and management in the areas of metal materials preparation and application, metal thermal treatment and support behavior, and material tissue performance testing.
In the past five years, above 30% of our graduates further studied for their Master’s Degree in universities including China University of Science and Technology, Harbin University of Technology, and Central South University and so on. The employment rate of our graduates is above 92%, who are employed by large-scale manufacturing enterprises such as Angang Group Co., Ltd., Shenyang Aircraft Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., Brilliance BMW Automobile Co., Ltd., Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. and Zhuhai Gree Electricity Co., Ltd., etc.
(4) Functional Material
The Bachelor’s Degree Program in Functional Material focuses on the development of national strategic emerging industries. The research areas of this program include electronic information, new energy, nanotechnology, ecological environment, aerospace and so on. It aims to cultivate students with the spirit of innovation, practical ability, and self -reliance. Our graduates can engage in scientific and technological research, design, manufacturing, and development in related fields such as information materials and new energy materials.
This program is a Provincial First-class Undergraduate Demonstration Program in Liaoning and a Provincial Key Support Program. It is a First-level Discipline in Materials Science and Engineering. Relying on the “Liaoning Provincial Functional Materials Industry School and Enterprise Alliance” platform, the research directions of this program are “new energy and photoelectric materials” and “semiconductor materials and devices”.
There are 15 full-time teachers in this program, including 8 professors and 5 associate professors. 60% of the teaching staff have experience in studying abroad or corporate practice, and 66.7% of them are under the age of 45. Among them, 6 have won the titles of Provincial Talents, 2 were selected as the 2% World’s Top Scientists and 1 as member of the British Royal Chemistry Society.
In recent years, the teaching staff have hosted more than 30 scientific research projects, including national natural funds, major national science, technology special projects, Chinese post-doctoral funds, provincial natural science funds, and Liaoning revitalization talent projects. Scientific research funds have accumulated more than 1,840,000 yuan. This program includes three Provincial First -class Undergraduate Courses in Liaoning, and has won 6 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards. More than 300 SCI academic papers have been published, 14 of which are ESI (1%) highly quoted papers, and 18 articles were ESI (3%). More than 30 patents have been approved.
This program has established long-term cooperative relationships with universities and scientific research institutes in the United States, Germany, Australia, Japan and so on. It is dedicating to building an international student training platform and building a “3+1” two-stage talent training model. The employment rate of our graduates in the past three years is about 92%, and more than 37% of our graduates further studied their Master’s degree.
