Ⅰ. Major of welding technology and engineering

The major of welding technology and engineering takes high-end manufacturing as the background and the material science and engineering as support and mutually crosses and penetrates in the disciplines of electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, management science, etc. It pays attention to training the design, manufacturing, test and study, running management, business sales and other abilities in the welding technology and engineering field. Graduates are mainly engaged in the works of welding technology planning, welding structure production, welding equipment debugging, welding equipment management, welding production and organization, etc., in the industries of mechanical manufacturing, construction &installation, petrochemical and pipeline engineering, aeronautics,astronautics and ships, welding equipment manufacturing, etc. The students passing the training examination during school days can also get the certificate of International Welding Engineer (IWE) which is issued under the authorization of the International Institute of Welding (IIW). Over the years, our graduates’employment rate is top in the university.

Ⅱ. Major of materials forming and control engineering

The major of material forming and control engineering is the multidisciplinary cross-connection major which relates to material, machinery, control, computer, etc. The major has wide knowledge range and strong comprehensiveness, mainly serves the equipment manufacturing industry and the relevant industries and radiates to the other sections of the national economy. Besides, the major mainly researches the influences of relevant technology factors on the materials during the metal material forming process, the theory and method of forming technology development, forming equipment and technology optimization, assessment of automation and intelligent control, quality inspection and reliability during the forming process, mould design theory and method, etc. Various types of new materials are being widely applied in all industries and Chinese industrial structure adjustment of the new material industry is closely relevant to the development of the new technology of the material forming equipment, thus, there are more and more demands on the senior talents who not only have the material science knowledge but also master the design and manufacturing technology of the material forming equipment. The major focuses in the material forming and application of the components and parts in the equipment manufacturing industry, and have trained many practical excellent engineering application talents who are professional, skillful and optimistic for the fields of casting, plastic forming and welding. The major of material forming and control engineering is one of the undergraduate majors which have the highest education strength and most distinguished features in the university.

Ⅲ. Major of functional materials

The major of functional materials is the novel engineering technology major which is set up by our university in order to meet the development demand of the national strategic emerging industry. It is the important pillar major for the development of the high and new technology industries, including electronic information technology, new energy technology, photoelectric conversion technology, ecological environment technology, energy conversion and storage technology, etc., and mainly researches the special functions and mutual function conversion effect of materials on acoustics, optics, electricity, heat, chemistry, biochemistry, etc. Based on the material science theory, the major integrates the multidisciplinary theory knowledge of physics, chemistry, energy science, information science, environmental science, etc., and enables graduates to master the professional knowledge of the structure design, preparation, characterization, modification, processing forming, application in device, etc., of the functional materials and be the innovative applied senior talents who have the abilities of quality control, technology management and new product development for industrial production.

The major always researches in the way of combining with the development leading edge of the new material development and preparation technology. It has got unique characteristics in the structure design, preparation technology, etc., of the nanometer electrode materials for the supercapacitor, high-purity nanometer silicon nitride, preparation and application of novel oxide powder of complex mineral, novel lithium/sodium ion battery materials, structure and nature of novel compound semiconductors, rare earth doped optoelectronic display materials, functional films and high performance wave-transmitting materials. The major plays an active role for providing innovative highly-skilled talents to the industries of instruments and meters, radio, automobiles, ships, aeronautics & astronautics, power batteries, national defense industry, etc.

Ⅳ. Major of metal material engineering

The metal material engineering is the backbone of the national economic construction, and plays important roles in aeronautics & astronautics, metallurgy, machinery, electricity, energy and chemical engineering, etc. The major mainly requires students to study the basic theory and knowledge of metal materials and composite materials, master the basic rules among material ingredients, microstructure structure, preparation process, environment and performance and the basic knowledge and common methods of metal surface corrosion resistance and improve the material performance, quality and service life and develop new material and new preparation technology through the comprehensive metal material design and technical design. The students trained by the major can find out and solve the problems of material engineering and are innovative and entrepreneurial with outstanding comprehensive quality. In addition, the students can be adapted to the social development demand and be the senior engineering technical talents for scientific research, technology development, technology and equipment design, production and operation management in the scientific research institutions, companies and enterprises in the fields of material structure and analysis, preparation and application of metal materials and composite materials, heat treatment and protection of materials, etc.
